The new term started with a special lunch on the 22nd April to honour our Founder, Laura Lady Buchan. We were very pleased to welcome several of the Buchan Old Girls including our Acting Principal, Jane Corlett. Much of the time was spent reminiscing about the old whole school photographs currently located in the Prep entrance.
The annual Form 4 project presentation proved to be as competitive as ever and once again the standard of work produced greatly impressed the judges. Our main judge who was particularly pleased with the high level of presentation skills displayed as well the creativity shown by the pupils. The winning team; called ‘Feel free’ produced a stunning display and presentation on their house of the future.
With regard to sporting achievements this term, I am very pleased to hear that two of our pupils have been selected to represent the IOM in the Celtic Cup this year. A splendid achievement - well done and good luck. At the IAPs inaugural sailing competition held at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy we missed third position by one point. This was a tremendous achievement by both pupils taking part and such a super experience to be able to sail at the future Olympic venue too.
Looking forward to the end of this week, for the first time there will be a school trip to the Globe theatre to watch a production of Macbeth. I have heard a rather gory interpretation, so it should be ‘spell binding’ for all and not too scary I hope!
