As we return to school this April it is clear that spring has well and truly sprung! The grounds look absolutely stunning with an explosion of colour from all of the daffodils and the budding of the leaves on the trees – it surely is promising a great deal for the coming term. Many thanks to Dave the Groundsman for all of his efforts in his ‘field of expertise’.
And what a busy term this promises to be. We are celebrating the 135th anniversary of Lady Laura’s founding of the school; a great many educational trips around the Isle of Man are planned; sports fixtures galore that include swimming galas, island finals for netball and hockey; a week for children in Forms 3 and 4 at the Venture Centre; a cross-curricular learning week; Founder’s Day and the end of term production………….more about that at a later date.
The activities programme got off to a flying start thanks to Mr MacGregor’s initiative at the end of last term – it really does make a difference to us all if we can hit the ground running at the start of the term. As ever, with such a popular feature of school life, not all requests could be fulfilled and my apologies go to those pupils who were not offered a place on one of their activities. We operate on a first-come-first-served basis which is the most fair way of allocating places and my most sincere thanks go to the staff who give freely of their time to broaden the horizon of the children at The Buchan.
Let us all hope that the sun keeps shining on this fine school and that we all enjoy a fun and fruitful summer term.
