November has proven to be a rather exciting month for the pupils and staff at Buchan. To be more specific, at 9.48am precisely on the 18th November, the school became part of a global relay when it welcomed the arrival of the 'Queen's Baton'.
The baton which began its journey at Buckingham Palace on the 29th October 2009 will travel through all of the 70 Commonwealth nations and cover a distance of more than 170,000 kilometres in 240 days. It will arrive at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on the 3rd October where the Queen's message will be read aloud to officially open the XIX Commonwealth games.
Pupils representing each year group ran with the baton down the school drive and on behalf of everyone here, I recorded the following message from the school;
"Greetings from all of the pupils, parents and staff at the Buchan School, Isle of Man. Our hope is for you all to perform to the best of your ability and achieve your dreams at the Commonwealth Games."
Our very best wishes to all of those involved in this truly global event; it was marvellous for the school to be part of such an exciting occasion.
